Our Committees
Joining a committee is a great way to share your skills, connect with other members, and help shape the club’s events and programs. Find a committee that fits your interests and make a real impact on the continued success of our club.
Banquet & Year-End Awards
Coordinates the annual awards banquet and oversees the selection and purchase of year-end awards. The committee works within a budget approved by the Budget Committee and membership to ensure a memorable celebration of member achievements.
Budget
Develops the club’s annual operating budget. The committee works with the Treasurer to review financial performance, prepare Profit & Loss statements for major events, and provide financial guidance to support responsible fiscal management.
Bylaws
Reviews and drafts proposed bylaw changes in accordance with Robert’s Rules of Order. Presents amendments to the membership and oversees the required voting process.
Club Equipment
Creates and manages a check-in/check-out system for club-owned equipment used at club sponsored events. Works with show chairs to ensure equipment is available, tracked, and returned properly.
Futurity
Manages all aspects of planning and conducting the annual Futurity show. Responsibilities include proposing the class list for membership approval, collecting and distributing premiums based on results from a three-judge system, and solicits sponsors to support Futurity classes. The committee provides winner results, photos, and sponsor information to the Promotion & Publication Committee for posting on the club website and Facebook page.
Inspectors
Coordinates with POAC to assemble a qualified inspection team for PHC inspections at the Regional Show. Encourages interested members to shadow inspectors as part of the certification preparation process.
Membership
Collects annual dues and membership forms and maintains an accurate, up-to-date membership roster. Ensures records are complete and shares membership updates with the Board as needed.
Midwest Horse Fair
Coordinates WPOAC and POAC promotions at the Midwest Horse Fair, including booth design, promotional materials, and volunteer participation to promote the organization and its programs.
Points
Tracks and posts show points and results throughout the season. Verifies class score sheets, determines year-end award eligibility, and provides final results to the Banquet & Year-End Awards Committee.
Inspectors
Coordinates with POAC to assemble a qualified inspection team for PHC inspections at the Regional Show. Encourages interested members to shadow inspectors as part of the certification preparation process.
Promotion & Publication
Oversees and manages all club communications, promotions, and marketing. Maintains the website, social media, and club email communications. Ensures all content aligns with club policies and branding. The committee designs and produces newsletters, advertisements, and other official documents. All club communications should be coordinated through this committee to maintain consistency, accuracy, and professionalism.
Royalty & Hospitality
Manages the Royalty contest and coordinates youth activities throughout the year. Welcomes new members and show exhibitors with gift bags and personal outreach to create a positive, inclusive, and engaging experience. The committee supports member involvement, encourages participation in club programs, and helps foster a welcoming and friendly environment at all club events.
Scholarship
Collects and reviews scholarship applications and selects recipients based on established criteria. Coordinates fundraising efforts and develops strategies to sustain and grow the WPOAC Scholarship Fund. The committee promotes scholarship opportunities to members, encourages participation in fundraising initiatives, and helps ensure that financial support is available to foster education and growth within the equine community.
Show
Plans, organizes, and oversees all WPOAC shows from start to finish. Ensures events run smoothly, efficiently, and in full compliance with WPOAC and national POAC rules and standards. The committee coordinates volunteers and paid staff, manages logistics, and works closely with show chairs to provide a high-quality experience for exhibitors, members, and spectators. It also provides all financial information to the Treasurer and Budget Committee to support accurate Profit & Loss statements.
Sponsorship
Secures and tracks sponsorships to support youth royalty, shows, awards, and other club programs. Develops sponsorship strategies and maintains relationships with current and potential sponsors. Works closely with other committees to recognize sponsors and ensure their contributions are promoted and appreciated, helping sustain and grow WPOAC programs.
Wisconsin Horse Council
Serves as WPOAC’s representatives to the Wisconsin Horse Council. Attends meetings and participates in related activities to support advocacy and collaboration within the equine community.
2027 Midwest Regional
Oversees all planning and preparation for the Midwest Regional Show. Coordinates logistics, manages the event budget, and ensures compliance with state and national guidelines. The committee is responsible for securing and maintaining sponsorships, recruiting and coordinating volunteers and staff, and collaborating with other committees. It plays a key role in delivering a successful, well-run, and memorable event for the entire POAC community.
